StrongMinds is a non-profit organization that is revolutionizing depression treatment among low-income and marginalized communities by launching depression treatment programs in the City of Newark. This new program aims to treat individuals ages 18 – 25 years old using a Group Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT-G) or group therapy approach.
Young people (ages 18-25) experience the highest depression prevalence levels among adults in the US, and BIPOC communities are disproportionately affected due to racial disparities across the mental health system. StrongMinds is addressing the need for adequate, culturally appropriate mental health care for BIPOC young adults by providing free, accessible solutions to treating depression.
